CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: (Please plan to arrive for class 5-10 minutes early)

             

AcroYoga - blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form the foundation of a unique new practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. Our highest aim is to bring individuals into a state of union with themselves, with each other, and with the divine. From this place of mutual support the true self can be realized, honored and shared for the benefit of all.

Some yoga experience highly recommended.

Ashtanga- Sundays, 11am (L1/2), Tuesdays, 10am (L2/3). Progressive techniques of breath, posture and movement, cleanse, stretch and strengthen the body as well as focus and calm the mind. Tuesday Ashtanga class is led primary series.

Community Class- Mondays thru Fridays, 8:00-9:15AM; $8/class. Embody the Flow! This class is a flowing sequence of asanas linking breath with movement. Level 1/2

Flow – Mondays & Fridays, 10am; Wednesdays, 5:30pm; Thursdays, 10am. Strengthen the mind/body connection by linking breath with a series of dynamic postures. Level 1/2, 2

Hatha – Tuesdays/Thursdays 6pm-7:30pm; Hatha is structured for a wide range of student ability, from fit beginners to advanced, The practice emphasizes the individual’s experience of yoga in a focused setting and includes postures, breathing practices and meditation. Movement and posture are linked to the breath and combined with longer holds of traditional postures including inversions and unique variations. There is an emphasis on core strength, proper breathing and focused effort. Beginners appreciate the non-competitive, supportive environment, while advanced yogis enjoy the meditative atmosphere and challenging poses. All enjoy steady pacing, precise alignment and breath instruction. Wisdom from ancient yoga practices is integrated with modern physiology, psychology and neuroscience to cultivate insight and transcend our current limitations. Mixed Level

Intermediate Hatha – Fridays, 12pm-2pm; This intermediate-to-advanced class offers students interested in deepening their practice the opportunity for a more in-depth exploration of a range of asana, including arm balances and inversions, and always followed by pranayama and meditation.  Students must have a working knowledge of sanskrit terms for basic postures, and be comfortable modifying their practice as necessary with less instruction than other classes. This class is perfect for practitioners of almost any style of yoga who wish to take their physical practice to a higher plane, as well as for teachers wishing to expand their base of knowledge. Level 2/3.

Intro to Flow-Geared to individuals new to yoga,a foundation practice linking body,breath,and mind with greater focus on alignment and detailed instruction of asanas. A preparation for flow class or ashtanga.  Level 1

Mysore -Independent practice with instructor, hands on guidance and attention to special needs. Not included in price of series $100/month, $80 for 3 x/week, $10 drop in (led class), $5 drop-in (open mysore) –experience required.

Restorative Yoga – Mixed Level, $8/class. Chronic stress alerts the body to release stress hormones, increase blood pressure and heart rate, tighten muscles, suppress the immune system and minimize blood flow to the digestive and reproductive systems creating chronic shoulder tightness, headaches, low back problems and many other stress-related conditions. With the regular practice of deep relaxation, your body will begin to remember what it feels like to be relaxed and the essence of a relaxed state stays with you longer. Learn to help relieve the effects of chronic stress and assist in the practice of letting go, and experience the benefits of effortlessness directly.

Womens Shakti Yoga - Shakti is the sacred feminine force of life and is Sanskrit for the creative, transformational energy in all of us.  Women are guided to opening more fully to their unique fluid nature and invited to embrace their feminine power with grace and joy. This yoga practice is  cyclical - following nature's changes thru the seasons.  The class is invited to explore thru movement, breath, mudra, affirmation and sound in a format suitable for all levels (mixed beginner thru moderate) - nourishing women at all stages of life. The eclectic sequences taught vitalize women, creating strength, flexibility and contentment.

Yin Yoga – Yin yoga provides you with the opportunity for a different and deeper insight into your body than some of the other more physical "yang' practices. Yin is a quiet practice that moves beyond muscle tissue and focuses on stretching connective tissue by holding supine or prostrating postures for an extended period of time, allowing your efforts become effortless by moving into a place of deep stillness.

LEVEL 1
This class is for absolutely anyone of any age, shape or size to experience the many benefits of yoga. No experience or flexibility required. Focus is on the correct positioning of basic yoga postures within one’s own body, while using props to increase the freedom and mobility of the body while concentrating on the breath to quiet the mind.

 

LEVEL 1/2
This class will dive deep into all asanas with a non-aggressive approach and moderate pace which allows you to dissolve into a more open, graceful body and relax into a steady mind.  This class is open to all levels, but due to the slower tempo it is appropriate for beginners as well.

 

LEVEL 2 
This class explores the beginning stages of advanced poses while keeping a focus on developing stamina and flexibility. After learning the basics, we concentrate on jumping forward and back in sun salutations, binding, exploring challenging asanas, arm balances, inversions, and more vigorous sequences, An ongoing practice is recommended. Recommended for students with at least 6 months of practice.

 

LEVEL 2/3
In this vigorous yoga practice we build strength internally as well as externally. We cultivate concentration, confidence, and endurance. This class explores asanas with advanced variations and leads us to find our true inner potential by playing the edge while embracing the challenge.  An ongoing practice is recommended. Recommended for students with at least 6 months of practice.
