Demystifying “DownThere”: A Yoga Workshop for Women
Join us for this very Special Workshop to Nurture & Empower women, illuminating the secrets of the pelvic floor
with Leslie Howard (as featured in YogaWoman, see the trailer below)
Saturday, March 31st & Sunday, April 1st
1:30pm-5pm both days
Cost: $108; Register by March 15th for a $10 discount
Proper strengthening and stabilizing of the pelvic floor helps to create the correct foundation of each movement in the body. This is the true meaning of “core work.” Whether you experience any of these conditions (or are just plain curious about this region of the body) this workshop is for you:
- pelvic pain
- lower back, hip or groin problems
- discomfort during sex or while using tampons
- skin irritation
- leak when laughing or sneezing
- have to go to the bathroom too often
- prolapsed organs
- pregnancy and birth
Before change is possible, you must be able to visualize, find and access the muscles of the pelvic floor. In this workshop we will locate, assess, soften, stretch, strengthen and exercise the various muscle groups of the pelvic floor, discuss what mula bandha is (and is not), abdominal health and how to utilize the pelvic floor in asana
Saturday afternoon will begin with anatomy, lecture and discussion followed by subtle experiential movements to awaken your understanding of this often ignored area. Sunday will begin with a series of specific exercises and asanas for the pelvic floor. We conclude with an asana class that spotlights the pelvis and hip joints. Handouts are provided to help you retain what you have learned. Bring your friends, sisters, mothers and daughters. Although helpful, no previous yoga experience is required. This workshop qualifies for continuing education credits with Yoga Alliance.

Hello, I was wondering will this be helpful to someone with hypertonic pelvic floor issues? I have endometriosis and severe adhesion formations…just cleaned up in June 2011 and am seeing a Pelvic Floor physical therapist…so I was wondering if this is just for people with weak pelvic floors as mine is overly strong…so I don’t want to hurt myself!
Thank you,
Tina
Hi, Tina! Wasn’t sure if Leslie got back directly to you but I wanted to confirm her reply publicly just in case anyone else has this same question. Yes, this workshop is appropriate for you. She will be addressing numerous issues in the workshop, for women with both weak & strong pelvic floors. Remember, the pre-registration discount deadline is in a few weeks and we already have quite a few registrations. Hope to see you soon! Namaste
